Hello SBAC Empower Community,
My name is Sarah Perry, and I am the new Director of Marketing and Communications at SBAC Empower. I am kicking off this new blog by writing a post about myself, the newest Human of SBAC Empower! The subsequent blogs on this post will be about all of the other members of the diverse SBAC Empower community, including past and current Empowering Small Business Seminar Series participants, Board of Directors members, speakers, business coaches, donors, and more! We believe sharing our stories will not only help our community become more tight-knit, but it will help us to grow our community as well.
Without further ado, let’s get started!
I graduated from the University of Michigan in April of this year, so first of all Go Blue! During my time at U of M, I earned two bachelor’s degrees, one in Business and one in Environmental studies. As my choices of majors may suggest, I believe in the power of business to have a positive impact on society and the environment. I completed two internship programs during my undergraduate career, the first of which was at the University of Michigan’s Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling, and the second of which was at Ford Motor Company. At the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling, I planned and executed social media strategy, creating funny(well at least I thought they were funny) recycling memes, promoting events, and sharing waste reduction tips.
During my summer at Ford, I interned for the Chicago Sales team, helping the company to better “sell” their new mobile application to dealerships and consumers alike.I also researched and made recommendations for the sales team on how they can help improve the customer experience at their dealerships.
Although I have only been working with Michele for a month, I love this job. I love being able to try out new things, grow our social media outreach, and meet all of the wonderful, smart, inspiring people who are a part of this community. I look forward to our upcoming online fundraising campaigns (see the rest of the newsletter!) and to helping this organization grow and empower more people.
I hope you enjoyed reading our first Humans of SBAC Empower post! See you next time!
