Letter from the Executive Director

Our programming us up and running and it has exceeded my expectations!  The Chicago Entrepreneur Expo, held on April 18, was a success!  Small business owners from all over Chicago attended and were connected with valuable resources and made connections that will take them to their next level.  Our speakers were engaging and informative.  Watch this website closely for Save the Date information for the 2018 Chicago Entrepreneur Expo.

In addition, the first cadre of our Empowering Small Business Seminar Series graduated on July 26.  We have a wonderful group of budding entrepreneurs who are full of ideas, excitement and energy.  It was my honor to bring speakers each week who impart information that will shorten their learning curve and improve their chances of lauching a successful business.  Our graduates were assigned a business coach that will stay with them for 18-months and will help them overcome any hurdles they may face.

We are holding a Summer Celebration on Tuesday, September 12 to share our successes in our first months of operation.  Join us to hear about who we are and what we do.  Hear from our alumni.  Learn the many ways you can support those wanted to transition to small business ownership and join the small business family. We are here to Empower you to own your own business.

But we are not only for people contemplating small business ownership. We are also the place to go for current small business owners who are working hard to establish their business but feel they need a little more support on the business part of running a business. You can also benefit from our seminar series, mentoring program and connection to resources. This is an organization that is designed for everyone who wants to learn how to run their current business more effectively.

The first step on your path to successful small business ownership is our Small Business Seminar Series. This 10-week in-person program starts with helping you understand the scope of small business ownership, the sacrifices and the rewards. We lay out what you need to know and will help you create your vision. We will then bring in experts in fields that will help you run your business: human resources, supply chain, budgeting, business law, marketing and more! During the last two sessions, we will wrap up by helping you write your business plan, gather the forms you will need to get started and create a funding plan. By the end of the series you will feel Empowered to conquer the world as a small business owner.

Registration is open for the Empowering Small Business Seminar Series that begins in September.  Don’t wait until the last minute to sign up!  Check out the Seminar Series page on this website for dates and registration information.

Our greatest resource is our connection to the Small Business Advocacy Council (SBAC). SBAC, founded in 2010, is a non-partisan member driven organization that promotes the success of small business through political advocacy and support services. As a companion organization, we seek to further their mission by promoting the success of small business ownership through education, resources and tools. We can tap into the expertise and resources of the over 1,000 members of the SBAC and this serves as our greatest resource and one you can only get with SBAC Empower.

We have plans for other programming in the works so check back often!

Let’s walk this path together.
